HIGHER EDUCATION LOAN
DIRECT AID OFFERS INTEREST FREE LOANS FOR SUMAIT UNIVERSITY AND MUM STUDENTS

Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN): The Kuwait based Direct Aid will offer interest free higher education loans for 200 qualified and deserving students who join Abdulrahman Al- Sumait University and Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM) degree programmes this academic year. The loans will cover tuition fees only.
In a recent agreement signed between Direct Aid and the Dar es Salaam based Amana Islamic Bank (AIB), Direct Aid will channel the funds through the bank which will facilitate the whole programme.
The AIB Managing Director, Muhsin Masoud said the loans would cover those students who would not successfully secure the Higher Education Students Loan Board (HESLB) funds or other sources for their studies.
The Managing Director emphasized that the loans will be issued to any deserving student of Sumait University and MUM irrespective of religious affiliation adding that the repayment period will be seven years during and after studies.
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has this academic year approved Bachelor of Arts with Education and Bachelor of Science with Education programmes for Sumait University while Bachelor of Arts with Education and Bachelor of Law with Shariah programmes have been approved for MUM.
