Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN): The Kuwait based Direct Aid will offer 50 full scholarships for qualified and deserving students who join Abdulrahman Al- Sumait University and Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM) degree programmes this academic year.

The Sumait University Acting  Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration),  Dr. Adil Hussein Taha said  the decision was reached during the recently ended  University Council Meeting under its Chairman, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Muhailan and that the scholarships will cover both tuition fees and  other financial needs for studies. They will be equally shared between the two universities which will facilitate its implementation.

The Sumait University has already set up Students Support Programme (SUSSP) in the categories of Full Scholarship, Partial Scholarship and Interest free Study Loan aimed at providing financial aid for its students to ensure that they focus on their studies and eventually utilize their competence for the betterment of the community.

To be eligible for SUSSP, the students must be Tanzanians, have attained two Principal passes with a total point of 4.0 at ‘A’ level or a GPA of 3.0 at Ordinary Diploma Level and must have secured admission at Sumait University.

The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has this academic year approved Bachelor of Arts with Education and Bachelor of Science with Education programmes for Sumait University while Bachelor of Arts with Education and Bachelor of Law with Shariah programmes have been approved for MUM.
