ORIENTATION WEEK BEGINS

Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN) –Over 200 newly enrolled students for degree programs at the Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University this academic year (2018/2019), have started a week-long orientation week Monday with briefings about the University academic and social life from various University officials.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance) Dr. Adil Hussein Taha briefed the students on finance matters including payment of the required fees, University Loans and Scholarships.
The newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Amran Rasli will address the students on Thursday, according to the schedule of events issued here by the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic),
During the week, the students will also be briefed on the general University Regulations and Examination Regulations along with relevant information from the Heads of the University Departments.
Dr. Ali Sunkar, Head of Examinations Department and Dr. Nassor Hamad from the Department of Islamic Studies are scheduled to make presentations on Morals of University Students and Rights and Duties of University Students respectively.
The Students Organization (SUSO) has been assigned to take the new students around various University facilities including Laboratories, Dispensary, Library, Hostels and Lecture Halls to get details of such facilities.
The Tanzania Commission of University (TCU), National Council of Technical Education (NACTE) and the National Examinations Council (NECTA) have this academic year approved the names of over 400 students to join Degree, Diploma and Certificate Programs in the Arts and Sciences respectively.
SUMAIT University offers Bachelor of Science with Education, Bachelor of Arts with Education and similar programs at Diploma and Certificate levels.
