SUMAIT UNIVERSITY LECTURER BACK FROM ARABIC RESEARCH ORKSHOP

Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN): The SUMAIT University Arabic Language Lecturer, Sheikh Abdallah Habib Ally returned here from Saudi Arabia where he attended a 5-day workshop on Arabic Language Research Skills at Ummul Qura University in Makkah.
He was one among the 12 Tanzanians who participated in the workshop with representatives from the Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM), The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), University of Dodoma (UDOM) and the Dar es Salaam based Centre for Foreign Relations.
According to Sheikh Abdalla who holds a Masters degree in Arabic Language from Sudan, the workshop was organized by the Saudi based King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Arabic Language and was facilitated by competent lecturers from the Ummul Qura Univesity.
Sheikh Abdalla said the workshop was the first of its kind in which “we gained more research techniques which will intensify the teaching of Arabic Language particularly for students who take Arabic Language in their study combinations”.
A total of 141 students take Arabic Language as a course of study at SUMAIT University. Of these, 28 are in the first year, 27 in the second year and 86 in the third year of degree courses.
