SUMAIT UNIVERSITY AND MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM) SIGN MoU

Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN): SUMAIT University and the Malaysian based Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) have signed a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the areas of academic, cultural, scientific thought and personnel exchange cooperation.
The MoU was signed during the UiTM delegation visit at SUMAIT University, in which Vice Chancellor Prof. Amran Md. Rasli signed on behalf of SUMAIT University while UiTM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim signed on behalf of his university..
According to the MoU, the two universities will promote an international academic cooperation in various areas including exchange of faculties, acceptance of undergraduate and graduate students of each university, organize symposia, conferences, short courses and meetings on research issues.
Other areas of cooperation cover information exchange on teaching, students development and research and promotion of information and activities on the universities respective websites.
The MoU further stipulates that for the purpose of implementing the cooperation, the two universities shall enter into legally binding agreements subject to terms and conditions mutually agreed by them.
In August this year, SUMAIT University and the US based International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) signed a one-year renewable agreement of cooperation in a number of academic, marketing and promotional areas.
The agreement was signed by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Amran Md. Rasli and Prof. Omar Hasan Kasule of the IIIT during the 3rd International Islamic Universities Conference held in Zanzibar..
According to the agreement, the IIIT would grant SUMAIT University the right to organize events and publish, print and distribute agreed upon materials on behalf of IIIT and the use of the IIIT’s brand as would be agreed.
Further, the agreement indicated that SUMAIT University shall organize academic events, research, teaching, translation and publication activities and produce materials on behalf of the IIIT which shall pay preapproved costs and other related expenses.
