Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN), January 12: The main highlight of the SUMAIT University’s 17th Graduation Ceremony on January 17, will be the award of the first University’s Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates since the University was fully fledged in 2014.

However, the graduation programme issued here indicates that the ceremony will also be opened by Du’a and followed by speeches from the Guest of Honour, University Council Chairman, the Vice Chancellor and awarding prizes to best students.

The graduation itinerary further indicates that invited guests, graduands and members of the Academic Staff are scheduled to take their seats between 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. while the Guest of Honour shall take the seat at 10.25 a.m.

According to the schedule, after the graduands, members of the Academic Staff and invited guests have taken their seats, the ceremony will be opened by Du’a to be followed by the Vice Chancellor’s request to the Council Chairman to constitute the congregation into the 17th Graduation. The event shall take place between 10.20 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.

The programme further indicates that speeches by the Vice Chancellor, Council Chairman, Guest of Honour and awarding prizes to best students shall be covered between 10.30 a.m. and 11.15. The conferment of degrees, diplomas and Certificate shall take place between 11.15 a.m. and 12.00 noon.

The programme shows that the graduation ceremony is scheduled to be closed at 12.05 p.m. by Du’a after the Council Chairman has declared it closed.

Finally, graduates shall take souvenir photographs with the Guest of Honour, members of the University Council, members of the Academic Staff and the Graduation Committee between 12.05 p.m. and 12.30 p.m.
