Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN): The SUMAIT University has embarked on Tahfeez wal-Qiraat and Information, Communication Technology (ICT) Programme for the Madrassa disadvantaged and marginalized graduates to impart Educational Technology on them.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Amran Rasli said the three-year programme which is expected to be launched at the end of this year will include ICT, Soft Skills with emphasis on English and Arabic proficiencies.
Prof. Rasli said talks have begun with Zanzibar Vocational Training Authority (ZVTA) which will advise the University how best to proceed with the programme and will in future award graduates with the VTA Level 3 certificate, equivalent to the Mainland VETA certificate.
He said the University is soon to finalize the programme curriculum and register with ZVTA as Vocational Training Centre adding that the program will be preferably carried out at the Madrassa compunds.
Prof. Rasli said the University will prepare conducive learning environment that will ensure the development of desirable competencies among the students adding “we have IT and language teachers to create holistic solution for the programme”.
Upon successful completion of the programme, the madrassa graduates will have opportunities to join University’s NTA Levels 4, 5 and 6 programes which award certificates and diplomas and finally advance on degree programmes.
