Prof. Yunis attends UNESCO Conference

Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN) – The Dean of the Faculty of Shariah and Islamic Studies, Prof. Yunis Abdille Mussa attended the Sixth International Conference on Arabic Language and Islamic Studies held in Dubai, May this year. It was jointly organized by UNESCO and the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) based Al-Majlis Al-Dawlah-al- Lughat Arab, which is responsible to promote the Arabic Language globally.
According to Prof. Yunis close to 2,000 papers were presented during the conference. His paper focused on the past and present efforts of the Kenyan Islamic Schools in promoting Arabic language and Islamic Studies.
He said 72 countries from Asia, Arabia, Africa and the US attended the conference and he had an opportunity to chair one of the conference committees on Arabic Language and Quran with members from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Saudi Arabia.
During the conference, Prof. Yunis also attended a meeting of the Deans of Faculties of Arts and Shariah from the Middle East with members from Kuwait University, Jordan University, Tunisia University, Malik Fahd University, Sultan Qaboos University and Algeria University. They discussed ways to promote Arabic Language globally.
