SUMAIT UNIVERSITY LECTUER APPOINTED EASTECO MEMBER

Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN) – SUMATI University lecturer of Mathematics, Ms. Salma Saleh Mohamed, has been appointed a member of the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO) Governing Board, according to a brief e-mail message sent here from Kampala. She is a SUMAIT University’s Bachelor of Science with Education Graduate (2010) and holder of the Master of Science in Mathematical Modeling from the University of Dar es Salaam (2013).
“As a female graduate and lecturer of SUMAIT University, I find this as a great achievement and contribution of our university in particular and my nation in general”, Salma said in her e-mail to SUMAIT University adding, “it is my hope that this Governing Board will enhance the development of Science and Technology in the EAC Member States”.
Salma who was in Kampala, Uganda attending a meeting said in her dispatch that, the main objective of EASTECO is to promote and coordinate the development, management and application of Science and Technology to support regional integration and socio-economic development global issues which require contribution and collaboration from stakeholders including universities, academic staff and researchers of different specializations.
EASTECO is an institution of East African Community (EAC) established by the 5th Extraordinary Summit of the EAC Heads of State on 18th June, 2007.
