SUMAIT UNIVERSITY TO HOST KISWAHILI NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN) – The SUMAIT University will host a three-day national symposium on Kiswahili Linguistics and Literature in which about 100 experts of the language will meet here for three days beginning August 3.
The symposium which has been organized by the Chama cha Lugha na Fasihi ya Kiswahili Tanzania (CHALUFAKITA) will discuss over 20 papers on Kiswahili Linguistics and Literature, Culture, Society and Children with presenters from universities, national Kiswahili bodies and individuals.
The papers will be presented by scholars from SUMAIT University, The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA),University of Dar es Salaam (UD), University of Dodoma (UDOM), St. John’s University of Dodoma, Baraza la Kiswahili Zanzibar (BAKIZA) and individual researchers.
According to the organizers, the symposium will be coloured by a Night of Mswahili that will be marked by the Swahili Culture and the awarding of outstanding creative teachers and activists in Kiswahili.
The Zanzibar symposium is the second of its kind since CHALUFAKITA was established in August 2014. The first one was held at Tumaini University in Iringa, last year.
