By Burhani Muhunzi, SUMAT University
The Tanzania based Islamic Foundation (TIF) is to launch interest free higher education loan fund for the needy Muslim students who fail to get funds to pursue education because of several obstacles.
TIF says the fund which will be launched soon after the Holy Month of Ramadhan this year, largely targets Muslim students who fail to join university education because they refuse to take loans with interest.
“How many Muslim students who fail to access education because they don’t have tuition fee? How many Muslim students who fail to join higher education because they refuse to take loan with interest?”, TIF questions in a pamphlet distributed to raise the event awareness.
“The TIF will inaugurate first ever Education Fund in Tanzania that will offer education loans under Islamic Jurisprudence” it says adding that secondary school students will also be covered.
TIF has strongly urged Muslims to contribute for the fund and get more information through the following telephone numbers: +255 655 654 900 and +255 716 575 129. (End)
