VICE CHANCELLOR MEETS WITH KUWAIT WOMEN DELEGATION

Zanzibar, Chukwani, January 23, (SUN): The SUMAIT University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rashed Hikmany met herewith the women delegation from Kuwait and briefed it on the University’s activities.
The Vice Chancellor briefed the delegation on the history of the SUMAIT University whose establishment was initiated by the late Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sumait, then Secretary General of the Kuwait based Africa Muslims/Direct Aid.
Prof. Hikmany informed the six-woman delegation from the Kuwait based Eshraq Centre and Zad Group on Dr. Sumait’s philanthropic commitment and dedication in Africa and said the University deserved to bear his name in recognition of his efforts.
Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University (SUMAIT University) was built on the foundation of the former University College of Education Zanzibar (UCEZ), established in 1998 by a Kuwait based charity organization, the Africa Muslims Agency (AMA/Direct Aid) founded in 1981.
The University is a product of its founder, Dr. Abdulrahman Hamoud Al-Sumait (1947-2013), an accomplished physician, philanthropist, educator, researcher, author, pioneer and AMA founding member from whom the University bears its name.
SUMAIT University offers degree programmes in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science with Education, Bachelor of Arts with Education and Bachelor of Arts in Counseling and Psychology. It also conducts diploma and certificate programmes in similar disciplines.
