Zanzibar, Chukwani, (SUN): A total of 247 students admitted for various degree programs at the Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University for 2020/2021 academic year have on Monday started a week-long orientation with briefings about the University’s academic and social life from various University’s senior officials.
Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Msafiri Mmasa Mshewa told the students that they have made the right decision to choose Sumait University for their studies urging them to work hard right from the beginning of the semester.
He said it was very possible for them to attain excellent final results if they maintained best performance throughout the period of their studies at the University.
He added the credentials which qualified them to join the University after the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) approval were strong enough for them to attain best performance if they would take their studies seriously.
Of the admitted students, 94 students will pursue a Bachelor of Science with Education programme, 63 have been admitted for the Bachelor of Arts with Education, 57 will take Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology while 33 students will study Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
Meanwhile a total of 127 students have been admitted for diploma programmes in Computing and Information Communication Technology (CICT) and Education for the academic year 2020/2021.
Of them, 42 have been admitted for CICT programme while 51 and 34 students will pursue Diploma in Education (Science) and Diploma in Education (Arts) programmes respectively.
