INTRODUCTION

The Centre is currently running Master of Shariah and Islamic Jurisprudence. The

 Objectives of the program are:

 

1.    To promote personal and professional growth of the comprehensive Sharia and Islamic studies.

2.    To meet the increasing demands of qualified Sharia specialist who will effectively contribute to the institutions of their respective communities

3.    To fill the gap of comprehensive Sharia professional staff in Tanzania, East Africa and beyond

4.    To contribute in societal resolutions of conflicts based on both comparative and sharia legal ways.

5.    To enhance proper interpretation free from misinterpretation of sharia principles and implementation

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

General Requirements

Based on the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) general requirements, SUMAIT University shall generally admit into a master degree programme an applicant with the following qualifications:

 

              i.        A relevant academic bachelor degree or equivalent with GPA of 3.0 and above;

            ii.        An applicant who possess foreign certificates must submit foreign award verification from TCU.

 

Specific Requirements

The applicant for the Master of Arts in Shariah and Islamic Jurisprudence should have at least:

              i.        A minimum of Lower Second Class in first degree in Shariah and Islamic Studies from a recognized University inside or outside Tanzania or its equivalent in non- classified degrees;

            ii.        Fluent in Arabic and English languages.

           iii.        Full time student.
